Waitangi Day is one of the annually celebrating events in New Zealand. It is celebrated on the 6 February every year. As we all know that it is most significant day in the History of New Zealand. In this day the Treaty of Waitangi is signed between Maori and Europeans. We all know it with a Treaty of Waitangi because the treaty was signed in Waitangi. The Treaty was signed on 1840, but since 1974, there is a public holiday in the whole nation. If the date come to the Saturday or Sunday then people of New Zealand got this holiday on the Monday.

The people of New Zealand known the Waitangi Dayas a New Zealand day because in this day the nation born again.The Treaty was signed on 6 February 1840, in a marquee at the James Busby’s house, after the treaty it is known as the Treaty House. The Treaty was signed at Waitangi in the Bay of Island. The Treaty was signed between British leaders (who represent the British crown) and Maori. At the time, when the treaty was signed there are around 40 Maori chief but after the treaty the copy of treaty spread the whole nation and the process was finished on 21 May 1840. The treaty also benefit the British Crown by securing their sovereignty.

In the nation there is two type of day is celebrate on the same day some of the people celebrate it as a Waitangi Day because of treaty sign in Waitangi. Some of the people celebrate is as a New Zealand day because they are New Zealander.
